Many days have breakfast stations, including quesadillas and smoothies. Lunch packs another punch with traditional Mexican cuisine. The Mexican club sandwich is on the lighter side, but is full of flavor as slow roasted turkey is layered with chipotle mayo and served alongside crisp yucca chips. Ceviche is a specialty; and the Poblano Stuffed Pepper is wonderful - traditional (with meat), or Vegetarian. Of course, dinner, served in Las Olas on select nights, is an excellent time to enjoy this restaurant's unique ambiance as it features rustic Mexican-made tables and incredible chandeliers that perfectly refract the muted lighting along a subtle color palette of soft yellow and sand. Mahekal’s newest oceanfront restaurant and bar, Fuego, offers an ever-changing array of Mexican cuisine that is locally sourced from the surrounding area, in step with the seasons and tides. The “Tulum-style” wood-burning oven restaurant features “Farm-to-Fork” dining accompanied with a relaxed vibe in a simple, laid-back atmosphere. Executive Chef Crescenciano Nerey prepares all meals over the open flames of the wood-fired oven grill, and serves up vibrantly colored dishes, such as Yucatan-style sausage with red peppers and garlic bread, Caribbean Grouper slow roasted with garlic and fine herbs and Mexican Octopus drizzled with oregano oil and sprinkled with sea salt and accompanied by Mayan salsa and rice. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant features natural, simple décor with standout designs ranging from antique wood furniture and huge palapa-style roof, to different elements of glass, metal and plastic featured throughout and flooring made up of brick, wood and tile.

This authentic Mayan restaurant experience combines a rich tradition and historical look into the ways the Mayan people prepared and ate their meals. Our chefs and staff, many with original Mayan ancestry, still speak the language and will prepare a feast for you while explaining their techniques in Mayan, translated in your language. Watch as we prepare the traditional Lime and Chicken soup in a large clay pots with locally sourced ingredients. Try spicy and aromatic peppers and condiments to further enhance flavors. Learn how the Mayan people prepared their food in heated pit ovens that cooked the fish and other meats to steamed and moist perfection. Discover original handmade tortilla creations as our staff prepares and cook tortillas for you in the traditional Mayan style. We finish with a sample of Mexican desserts, and the sweetness continues when you take the recipes and menus home with you as souvenirs. Enjoy the local produce drink xtabentún along with Mexican waters, flat and sparkling water, and red or white wine.
